Location: Gillette Road Middle School
Qualifications:
- New York State Certification as a School Building Leader (SBL) or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 5 years of successful classroom teaching experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of successful school administrative experience preferred.
- Understanding of upper elementary and early secondary educational philosophy.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proven ability to drive academic excellence, support staff development, and build strong partnerships with families.
Description:
Gillette Road Middle School seeks a visionary, dynamic, and collaborative Building Principal to lead our diverse student body, dedicated faculty, and vibrant school community. The Principal serves as the building's educational leader, responsible for implementing and managing the instructional program, ensuring a safe, inclusive learning environment, and fostering the academic, social, and emotional growth of all students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of instructional programs aligned with New York State Learning Standards and district goals.
- Analyze student achievement data to identify gaps, inform instruction, and implement effective intervention strategies (MTSS).
- Cultivate a positive, supportive culture of continuous growth by leading Professional Learning Communities, mentoring staff, building staff investment, and providing targeted professional development.
- Conduct regular classroom observations and formal evaluations, providing actionable, constructive feedback.
- Maintain a welcoming, safe, and inclusive school environment that celebrates diversity and promotes a sense of belonging for all students and staff.
- Ensure full compliance with IEP and 504 plans, collaborating closely with the Special Education and Staff Services departments to provide inclusive, equitable learning environments.
- Oversee daily building operations, scheduling, and safety protocols.
- Directly supervise and evaluate building administrative staff, including Associate Principals, as well as instructional faculty, and support staff.
- Participate actively in the hiring of high-quality instructional and support staff.
- Maintain transparent, consistent, and proactive communication with families.

Terms of Employment:
Twelve (12) months, NS Principals Association-affiliated position.
